Gone (Turtles)

As head of the Department Of Aquatic Resources (DAR) for the State of Hawaii I felt you may want an update about our dying reefs over here in Kauai. Just some good facts.

Yesterday I took some concerned citizens and scientists our in my research zodiac down to Tunnels Reef (Ha’ena) so they could see the coral destruction first hand.

We dove the Turtle Cleaning Station where I have dove over 100 past scuba dives at with my movie camera over the past 10 years.

The giant mound corals that started to dissolve and turn into mud about one year ago are still decaying at a very rapid rate. Over 75% of these giant old growth corals are either infected with a fast spreading disease or completely dissolving into mud of which is making the sea water have very poor visibility. The dissolving reef will also effect beach erosion this winter and will cause more damage to coastal homes.

The turtle cleaning station at tunnels is world famous!! There are normally many turtles there everyday being cleaned by the small fish and this is an important part of their health.

Yesterday all of the turtles were gone and it was a calm day with no surf so there should have been numerous turtles being cleaned of parasites and algae. The fish that clean the turtles were also gone and the entire reef is decomposing rapidly!

I have ten years of video of this location and also thousands of high resolution pictures I would be willing to share with you at no current cost to the DAR. The attached pictures are low resolution for email and they all have a written explanation of what is in each picture.

The reef was also littered with more broken corals that have very even brakes on their branches.

We have scientific evidence that could lead someone to believe that the destruction of this reef, this important turtles cleaning station and other turtle cleaning stations all along the north shore of Kauai is being partially caused by the Military use of high impulse microwaves, sonar and lasers during their electronic war games they are testing along the north shore of Kauai.

I have some top world renowned scientists coming to Kauai to do extensive testing on this. Would you be interested in the results when they become available?
